Within the framework of the meeting of the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics of the Faculty of Information Technology and Management the information day of the DeDiMaMo project was held (Developing students’ mathematical competences using digital mathematical modeling, Eurasia, CPEA-ST-2019/10067).

Nataliia Morze – Project Coordinator, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics and Mariia Boiko – Senior Lecturer the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, spoke at the meeting. Employees of the department, representatives of the faculty and graduate students were presented with the partners, goals, objectives and opportunities of the project DeDiMaMo.

Within the framework of the project implementation:

  • Creation of an electronic training course “Digital Mathematical Modeling” for students studying mathematics.
  • Implementation of adaptive learning elements for the Digital Mathematical Modeling e-course based on artificial intelligence technologies (chatbots of technologies).
  • Involvement of colleagues from Norway for the study of artificial intelligence, exchange of experience in chatbot technologies, use of digital technologies in the study of mathematical disciplines.
  • Creation and equipping of the latest equipment of a practical-oriented center of professional competence in mathematics training, based on the experience of teaching mathematics, accumulated by the MatRIC Center at Agder University.
  • Organization of student academic mobility during mathematics research practice, student start-ups and preparation of research-oriented projects.
  • Holding a hackathon and a fair of ideas for presenting startups that will involve students from Ukraine and Norway in mathematics education.
  • Conducting workshops for students, faculty and graduate students, a scientific conference and summer internships.

Opportunities provided by the project:

  • To be enriched with new knowledge and best practices from Agder University
  • improve educational practice-oriented strategies adopted in recent years under the new Law on Higher Education of Ukraine
  • increase students’ interest in mathematics
  • Continue work on the creation and implementation of automated adaptive learning systems to provide personalized learning
  • Enhance opportunities for Ukrainian students to access mathematics education programs in Norway
  • improve and expand the range of English language courses offered by the University
  • start exporting its own educational services and increase its attractiveness for students, researchers and teaching staff
  • to ensure the further integration of Ukrainian universities into the international educational and scientific space.
